Vietnam Backpacker Hostels – Castaway Island Tour
While traveling for two weeks in Vietnam and Thailand in October of 2016, I was approached by Vietnam Backpacker’s Hostel to put together a brief promo video regarding their Castaway Island Tour.
This video was fun to shoot because of the beautiful location – however, it didn’t come without peril. This was my first time flying from a boat, having to deal with eagles/hawks circling the aircraft, and strong gusts of wind on Ha Long Bay.
Filming in this UNESCO World Heritage site is something I will never forget. The final shot of the video is something that required an extreme amount of luck. I hope you enjoyed.
The final project resulted in a 3.5 minute long video synced with ‘Tropical House’ music (I had no idea that was a genre).
Overall, I wish I had filmed a bit more during sunrise and been more daring with the drone. But, you have to carefully balance risk with reward.
Oak Island Lighthouse Drone Highlight Reel
Every year for vacation since I can remember, my family packed up the car and headed to Oak Island, North Carolina. A small beach community with one of the seven lighthouses in all of North Carolina.
Our beach house this year was only a brief walk to the lighthouse so, I figured I should put together a video highlighting it.
This was a combination of GoPro footage (time-lapse in the beginning) and aerial video taken from my DJI Phantom 4 drone. All-in-all, I think I flew for about 12 hours total in the course of a week. Just to get a different perspective of the town were I spend 1 week a year.
The final video is approximately 3.5 minutes long video synced with a funky-bluesy guitar track.
After creating this video, I shared it with a few Facebook groups and it received hundreds of views, likes, and comments. I’m glad knowing that I can look back on this video in cold winter months.
There was no specific client for this project. I did this one for fun.
